We invite our students, friends and family of Associação de Capoeira Cordão de Contas to participate in our 2016 NATIONAL CAPOEIRA FESTIVAL. The event will have mestres and students travel from Tokyo, Osaka, Canberra, Gold Coast and Manila to help us celebrate this amazing art.
We will have the honor of the presence of Associação de Capoeira Cordão de Contas members from around our region:
*Mestre Torpedo- our very own Mestre & native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
*Mestre Tigre- Tokyo, Japan
*Contra Mestre Soquete- Osaka, Japan
*Contra Mestre Albatroz- Tokyo, Japan
*& a number of their Cordão de Contas students will join us from Japan.
*Graduado Que Som & Aluna Shaolin, my students of 14 years, from Canberra, Australia:
Your participation means that you are part of this living history of the art of Capoeira that we are writing!

The Festival includes workshops, a Batizado and graduation ceremony. Batizado literally means “Baptism” and is an initiation rite for new students, a welcome to the family of Capoeira- it is the first time for the students to play in an official Capoeira roda. Students already with a graduation will be graded for their next rank. The event also serves as a thrilling display of the beauty and excitement that is Capoeira.

Mestres’ Demonstration Roda, BATIZADO & TROCA DE CORDA

At the workshops we will work on Capoeira movements, play and acrobatics, roda skills, rituals and traditions in Capoeira, music and singing. The workshops are important preparations for the Batizado and an opportunity to meet and train with the our grupo's Mestres who have come from the other side of the world. At the Batizado, students will earn their first corda (belt), the first graduation in Capoeira or move up in rank. The first corda is a symbol of the start of a journey, where students are required to know the most basic movements. To earn your first graduation, you play a game with a teacher. On the day of the Batizado there will be teachers and students invited from our own and other academies from all around Philippines, Asia and Brazil.
